International Summer Course 2025:
Exploring Hidden Gems in Indonesian Craft (Vol. 04:
Bandung, West Java) was a summer course program organized by the Undergraduate Program in Craft, Faculty of Art and Design, Institut Teknologi Bandung, and has been successfully conducted in collaboration with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand, and RMIT University, Australia. This program highlighted the dynamic relationship between craft traditions and Indonesia’s vibrant culinary culture.
This edition invited participants to explore how culinary practices become cultural expressions—shaped by history, community, and local craftsmanship. Through this cross-cultural program, students from Indonesia and Thailand had the opportunity to experience the richness of Indonesia’s food heritage while engaging with contemporary craft perspectives.
The summer course consisted of three main activities:
* Guest lecture sessions that provided insights into craft, culinary culture, and the creative industry.
* Culinary tours to iconic West Java food spots, exploring the stories, techniques, and traditions behind each local flavor.
* A ceramic workshop featuring hands-on collaboration and creative exploration in groups.
This program aimed to foster collaboration, cultural exchange, and innovative craft exploration across countries—one meal, one craft, and one shared experience at a time.
