Laboratory Exposition is an annual academic exhibition initiated by the Visual Art Students Association (VASA) FSRD ITB. Laboratory Exposition itself is taken based on the term coined by Trisno Sumardjo “Bandung serves Western laboratories”. Laboratory Exposition began in 2018 and was on hiatus due to the corona pandemic. It resumed in May 2022, then was held again on December 19, 2022. This time, the fourth Laboratory Exposition takes the theme <\/span>Laku Pelaku<\/span><\/i> and focuses on the Pre-Final Project work of Visual Art students class of 2019. Laboratory Exposition Vol IV: <\/span>Laku Pelaku<\/span><\/i> was held on December 19-21, 2022 for the Intermedia and Sculpture Studio and then continued on December 23-25 for the Two-dimensional Studio. This exhibition was held at the Cultural Center Gallery under the management of Mr. Isa Perkasa.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The title <\/span>Laku Pelaku<\/span><\/i> is the result of discussions among students from the Research Studio which is the curation team for this fourth Laboratory Exposition exhibition. Initially, the main theme that emerged revolved around human behavior which was obtained from the emergence of discourses from curated works such as ideas on social issues, identity, to spirituality. The theme was identified as a trace of the presence of Visual Arts students Class of 2019 who would later individually become actors who engage in the arts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The works exhibited at Laboratory Exposition Vol IV: <\/span>Laku Pelaku<\/span><\/i> focus on the pre-finished work with a variety of explorations in terms of mediums and themes, from the new media to conventional mediums. The intermedia works have a tendency towards existing media. It is no longer limited to conventional mediums. Aura Fakhira’s work uses virtual reality media in developing her concept ideas which discuss the experience of sublime feelings. Video Performance and installation works by Renitta Karuna present the idea of Security Law for Women and patriarchal culture in Indonesia. In the sculpture studio, Michelle Jovita displays her sculpture exploration through the medium of cloth with her ideas on human skin and the diversity of colors that exist on human skin. Furthermore, at Two-dimensional Studio, the painting by Bagas Mahardika depicts wrapped objects as religious symbols and the spiritual attitude he feels with God. In Graphic Studio, Inggita Kanya brings the idea of self-identity with visual repetition and pattern stacking using filter printing techniques. In Drawing Studio, Fatia Nadya Arrizki’s drawing depicts daily observations by abstracting forms into colorful outlines using colored pencils in her work.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Laboratory Exposition Vol IV: <\/span>Laku Pelaku<\/span><\/i> is held outside the campus due to the curiosity factor towards the showrooms that are outside the campus. It is a good opportunity for students to exhibit outside the art building. They also can get to know the space in the art building and start learning to understand exhibition techniques and work displays.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition, it is a great experience for the students and artists to finally leave the campus, play outside, be braver to show off their work, get to know the exhibition spaces in Bandung, and interact directly with the general public. Students can have joined exhibition with friends from various studios, so that this exhibition can be a place for mutual appreciation. They can get to know more about the work process of friends who are doing pre-final projects. They can talk about ideas, interests, and exploration of the medium which may arise discussion and appreciation between one another. Each exhibition certainly relies heavily on the cooperation built by the people in it and building cooperation between studios which wanted to exhibit, from exhibition preparation, showroom layout, collection and installation of works, logistics, publications, and others is certainly difficult. From this experience, many lessons are learned.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The hope for this exhibition activity is especially for students and the academic community of FSRD ITB and generally for visitors. For students and especially the batch that will enter the fine arts department or those who have just entered the fine arts department and also the batch that has just entered the studio, always be<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is hoped that students, artists, and exhibitors will be more confident and enthusiastic for their work. Some may feel insecure about their own work, but it is more important to focus on creating values and standards as a measure for yourself and the process of your work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hopefully, FSRD ITB will continue to be supportive in supporting work programs built by students in the future, since this support will encourage student enthusiasm to bring their ideas to life. Laboratory Exposition: <\/span>Laku Pelaku<\/span><\/i> is expected to bring art closer to the general public by raising curiosity and interest in visual arts and also creating a sense of appreciation for works of art.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
