The Smart Textiles Program – Modernization of Curriculum of Textile Engineering and Textile Technology in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Pakistan is a program funded by Erasmus+, part of the Erasmus+ CBHE program. The program runs from 2020 to 2023.

The Craft Study Program FSRD ITB is one of those involved in this program. This program aims to increase the level of competence and skills in Asian universities by reforming undergraduate programs to bring the national education system to the level of European Union standards.  It also intends to strengthen the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market focusing on textile technology and smart textiles.

The SMARTEX program involves three universities from Europe, one consulting firm from Greece, two universities from Pakistan, two universities from Malaysia, and two universities from Indonesia. These universities include the University of West Attica (Greece), Ghent University (Belgium), Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (Malaysia), Politeknik STTT Bandung (Indonesia), Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), Bahauddin Zakariya University (Pakistan), NED University of Engineering & Technology (Pakistan), and IDEC SA company (Greece)

As part of the study visit agenda in the SMARTEX program, a seminar entitled Smart Textile in Higher Education and Industry was held onsite and online in the seminar room of the CAD Building FSRD ITB on Monday, July 25, 2022.

“The SMARTEX partners are pleased and impressed with what they get at ITB. They can see the learning outcomes of SMARTEX courses (Advanced Textiles, E-Textiles, and Explorative Biodegradable Textiles) and the SMARTEX lab on the fifth floor, CADL Building ITB. They were impressed by the beauty and subtlety of the ITB campus as well as the laboratories and research diversity at ITB. SMARTEX partners wish to maintain their collaboration and cooperation with ITB. They see a lot of potentials, particularly among students, and they like the collaboration between lecturers and students”, said Innamia Indriani S.Ds. M.Ds.
