THE STUDY PROGRAM OF VISUAL ART
The study program of visual art focuses on the modern society’s belief concerning visual art. This belief stems from the Modernism discourse. This study program deals with form, material, conventional technique, and contemporary artitistic forms. This study program is facilitated by two expert groups: Visual art and Esthetics and Art Sciences. These two expert groups are in charge of providing academic services, doing research, and giving services to the community.
The two expert groups are currently conducting two different study programs in artistry and theory of visual art. These two study programs are based on the professionalism in the field of visual art. Each of them is divided into several specializations or majors. The study program on the theory of visual art is concentrated on the esthetics and visual art. This study program is for the students who want to specialize in either curatorship or art critique. Those who are interested in pursuing a further study on the two professions can do it in the graduate program of visual art. As for those who take the artistry study program, they can specialize themselves in one of the four different specializations: painting, sculpture , print making, and ceramics. In addition, in the future this study program is going to conduct a study program in the intermedia arts.

THE STUDY PROGRAM OF INTERIOR DESIGN
Interior design is a knowledge about the inside space of a building where humans live and conduct their activities. This knowledge deals with various problems, which have to be investigated and resolved, arising as a result of the human’s activities done both individually and socially inside a building. Interior design, as knowledge, relates to such fields as history, psychology, sociology, material technology and building construction, physics and esthetics. In the process of both creating physical interior design and constructing a building, such things as problem solving skills; technical drawing skills; research and ethics are needed.
The sensitivity upon the vocabularies of design and good understanding on social, economic, cultural, psychological, physiological, technological, and environmental factors are important for the purpose of creating the interior design of a building.
The graduates of this study program may work in the following areas:
1. Design interior consultant,
2. Building contractor,
3. Building construction company
4. Building interior designing company,
5. Housing developer;
6. Building material industry,
7. Building interior component,
8. Furniture company,
9. Government Institution,
10. Education Institution, and
11. Research institution.
THE STUDY PROGRAM OF CRAFT
The study program of craft concentrates on the knowledge and skills of craftsmanship that is based on medium, esthetical sensitivity, utilitarian needs, and manual dexterity. The output of the craftsmanship can be in a form of the unique value of a concept, theme, imagination, emotion, and senses (visual, tactile, olfactory). The areas of study of this study program are Textiles and Ceramics.
THE JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE GRADUATES OF THIS STUDY PROGRAM
The curriculum of this study program is designed to help the students develop their perspective and skills in craftsmanship besides developing their capacity to conduct both national and international exhibitions. Therefore, the graduates of this study program could work as in one of the followings:
1. Crafts person
2. Researcher in crafts
3. Government institution related to the crafts (Department of Industry, Department of Trade, Department of Culture and Tourism, Department of Education)
4. Craft industry
5. Craft instructor
6. Entrepreneur in Craft production, promotion our trade.
THE STUDY PROGRAM OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
The Study Program of Industrial Design focuses on both the knowledge and skills in planning and designing the functional products which are based on the conformity of the product users and industrial principles. The study on the conformity of the product users includes such factors as sensing conformity, ergonomic, conformity values, and product semantics. As for the study on the industrial principles, it includes technological products, such as materials, machines, electronic instruments, and informatics; consumption and production pattern, such as production management, marketing, and law protection; the environment, such as: ecology and urban development; and cultural study, such as material culture and lifestyle.
In solving a problem, the science of industrial design approaches it by taking into account the aspects of, among others, aesthetics, society, engineering, management, and environment. These aspects are the synergic elements that became the bases for the establishment of the industrial design epistemology.Several study areas that the students can choose are, among others, instrument design and consumer product design; environmental design; transportation design; and digital design.
THE STUDY PROGRAM OF VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN
The establishment of the Study Program of Visual Communication Design was driven by the economic and industrial development, to which every field was required to adjust itself. Therefore, this study program is divided into three main specializations:
1) Graphic Design (Logo Design, Sign System, Comic, Illustration, and others),
2) Multimedia (Photography, Animated Film, Audiovisual, Interactive Multimedia, and
3) Advertising (Promotion, Social Campaign, Promotion Media, and others).
THE GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAM OF VISUAL ART
The Graduate Study Program of Visual art was established in 1989. The endorsement of its establishment was supported by the decree of Directorate General of Higher Education of Indonesia in 1989. In 2000, this study program was accredited Excellence by the Accreditation Body of the Republic of Indonesia. In 2006, it received an accreditation of “A” class from the Accreditation Body of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Work of Visual art
The aims of the specialization in the Work of Visual art are not only to improve the students’ professionalism such as their explorative techniques and craftsmanship concept development but also to further their study in the science of visual art. In addition, this study program is intended to lead the students to improve their ability in approaching some fine art works in relation to their environment so that the works can become a part of a society.
The Theory of Visual art
The aims of the specialization in the Theory of Visual art are not only to improve the students’ research ability but also their analytical ability to develop the fine art science through a further study on the theories of visual art and other relevant disciplines (sociology, psychology, and anthropology, and many others) that can support them to broaden their analysis and make an accurate analysis towards fine art works.
THE GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAM OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
The Graduate Study Program of Industrial Design was established in 1989. In 2000, it obtained the accreditation of excellence from the Accreditation Body of the Republic of Indonesia. In the year 2005, it received the accreditation “A” class from the Accreditation Body of the Republic of Indonesia.
In this study program, the students can choose to specialize in either design professionalism or design theory.
1. The Specialization in Design Professionalism
The aims of the specialization in Design Professionalism is to help the students not only improve their professionalism ability through the improvement of their design thinking ability but also improve their science mastery quality to support their designing process so that they can produce a good and proper design.
2. The Specialization in Design Theory
One of the aims of the specialization in Design Theory is to help the students to master the science of design so that they can anticipate the direction of the development of design. Another aim is to improve the students’ ability in making use of other disciplines to support their research so that they can make a decision about a design.
THE DOCTORATE STUDY PROGRAM IN VISUAL ART AND DESIGN
The Doctorate Program in Visual art and Design conducts advanced studies on the disciplines related not only to visual art, such as painting, print making, sculpture, and ceramics but also to design, such as industrial design, interior design, visual communication design, and crafts. Fine art science is the essence of both the art knowledge and art practice viewed from the creativity, dissemination, perception, and appreciation side. An advanced study in both visual art and design is philosophical, methodological, analytical, and evaluative in nature, where it takes into account other disciplines related to visual art and design. This program is the continuation of the graduate study program in visual art and design, but it also accepts candidates that do not have an art and design background. Candidates are equipped with scientific abilities in visual art and design to enable them to carry out research and development independently, the purpose of which is to contribute a new theory and knowledge to either the science of visual art or design.
